Reality Check Projects is committed to providing quality services and this policy outlines how we manage Personal Information, and may reference any applicable Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act).

What is Personal Information and why do we collect it?

Personal Information is information or an opinion that identifies an individual. Examples of Personal Information we collect includes names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and social media details.

We don’t guarantee website links or the policies of authorised third parties.

Sensitive information will be used by us only for:

  • a secondary purpose that is directly related to the primary purpose- With your consent; or where required or authorised by law.

Cookies & Comments

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. The Internet Service Provider logs of anonymous information for statistical purposes, including: date and time, pages accessed, and the browser internet address of the server accessing our site.

Embedded content from other websites (third parties)

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service independently conducted by the Internet Service Provider.

Surveys are conducted using third party platforms such as Microsoft Forms.

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Third party websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

Your Personal Information may only be disclosed in limited circumstances including:

How long we retain your data

Your Personal Information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.

When your Personal Information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal Information. However, most of the Personal Information is or will be stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you wish to update, access*, or remove your Personal Information, please contact us in writing.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

* In order to protect your Personal Information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information. An administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information.
